What Is IUI?
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a simple procedure that places sperm directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation to support conception.
By placing sperm closer to where fertilization occurs, IUI may increase the chances of pregnancy compared to vaginal insemination.
At Birthstone Midwifery, IUI is performed in a calm, supportive setting—either in your home or in-office so you feel comfortable, informed, and at ease.
How It Works
Fertility timing is everything. We work with your natural cycle to identify your most fertile window and plan insemination accordingly.
Support includes:
Cycle tracking and ovulation guidance
Timing insemination with your peak fertility signs
On-call availability during your fertile window
Option for a second insemination within 24 hours
What to Expect
The procedure is quick and similar to a routine pelvic exam.
A speculum is used to gently visualize the cervix, and a small sterile catheter is used to place the sperm into the uterus. Most clients find the process straightforward and well tolerated.
Support may include:
Sperm thawing for frozen samples
Guidance for fresh or known donor samples
Clear step-by-step explanation so you feel comfortable throughout
