Payment Arrangements & Insurance Billing

Birthstone Midwifery is committed to transparent pricing and flexible payment arrangements whenever possible.

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your due month and begin care. Flexible payment arrangements are available throughout pregnancy; however, 75% of the total balance must be paid by 36 weeks gestation.

For families who need additional flexibility, the remaining balance may be divided into postpartum payments for up to 3 months after birth.

For a comprehensive home birth package totaling $6,000:

  • $4,500 must be paid by 36 weeks

  • The remaining $1,500 may be paid postpartum through an agreed-upon payment schedule

HSA/FSA cards are accepted when eligible.

Insurance & Out-of-Network Billing

Birthstone Midwifery is currently considered an out-of-network provider. Some PPO and POS insurance plans may offer partial reimbursement for home birth midwifery care.

A superbill may be provided for insurance submission after payment has been made. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan and are not guaranteed.

Some laboratory services may be billed separately through LabCorp and may be covered directly through your insurance benefits.

Families interested in exploring reimbursement options may work with a professional medical billing service to verify possible out-of-network benefits prior to beginning care.

  • $2,500 – $3,000

    For families who want midwifery support during pregnancy while planning a hospital or birth center birth.

    • Initial intake and full prenatal care through 36 weeks

    • Ongoing monitoring of maternal and fetal well-being

    • Lab ordering, review, and coordination

    • Nutritional, holistic, and lifestyle guidance

    • Time to ask questions, build understanding, and feel supported

    This option is ideal for late-transfer clients or families who want personalized, midwifery-led care during pregnancy.

  • $1,200 – $1,500

    Support for your recovery and your baby’s transition in the comfort of your home.

    • 3–5 in-home visits (first week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks)

    • Maternal recovery assessment and support

    • Newborn exams and monitoring

    • Breastfeeding and feeding support

    • Emotional support and guidance during the postpartum period

    Available for families who delivered at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center.

  • $95 per visit

    One-on-one virtual support when you need guidance, clarity, or reassurance.

    • Lab review and interpretation

    • Second opinions and clinical guidance

  • Flexible support for families who want ongoing virtual guidance.

    Prenatal Virtual Package — $650

    • 8 virtual prenatal visits

    • Ongoing guidance, education, and support throughout pregnancy

    Postpartum Virtual Package — $250

    • 3 virtual postpartum visits

    • Recovery, newborn care, and feeding support

    Ideal for families in rural areas or those planning independent birth with professional guidance.

  • For home birth clients, routine prenatal labs are included and coordinated as part of your care.

    This includes:

    • Initial prenatal lab panel

    • Ongoing labs throughout pregnancy as needed

    • Glucose screening

    • Group B Strep (GBS) testing

    • Standard screenings to monitor your health and your baby’s well-being

    Labs are ordered through LabCorp and:

    • Typically billed directly to your insurance

    • Accepted by most major insurance carriers, including PPO plans and Medi-Cal

    Uninsured clients may pay LabCorp directly, with payment plans available.

    • Flexible payment plans available

    • Care must be paid in full by 36 weeks

    • HSA/FSA cards accepted

    • PPO reimbursement (superbill provided)

    • Discounts available for Medi-Cal clients
