Home Birth Midwife
Have you wondered if home birth is right for you?
At Birthstone Midwifery, I believe that the birth of your baby is a sacred, once-in-a-lifetime experience. As your home birth midwife, it is my honor to walk beside you through this powerful transformation, offering skilled clinical care and deep respect for your body and your baby. I provide personalized, holistic midwifery care in the comfort of your own home, creating a birth space that feels safe, calm, and truly yours. I trust your ability to give birth, and I trust your baby’s wisdom to be born, while bringing the knowledge, tools, and experience needed to support a healthy, low-intervention home birth for your family.
The Transformative Journey of Home Birth
At Birthstone Midwifery, we see birth as a process that unfolds over time:
Pregnancy is a season of growth and expansion.
Labor and birth are a powerful time of release, surrender, and stepping through the threshold.
Postpartum is a time of deep reconnection – with yourself as a parent, with your baby now earthside, and with your family as it grows by one more.
Birth touches every part of who you are – body, mind, heart, and spirit. You are not only giving birth to your baby; you are also birthing the mother, father, or parent within yourself.
Home birth midwifery care with Birthstone Midwifery honors this entire transformation. With compassionate, evidence-based support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, we focus on keeping you and your baby safe and healthy while respecting the emotional and spiritual dimensions of this life-changing experience.
Course of Care
-
Prenatal Care
Your prenatal care is the heart of our work together. These visits are where we build trust, answer your questions, and make sure you feel informed, supported, and truly heard throughout your pregnancy.
With Birthstone Midwifery, you’ll receive the full course of standard midwifery care for home birth:
Once a month until 28 weeks
Twice a month from 28–36 weeks
Weekly from 36 weeks until your baby is born
Each prenatal visit typically lasts 45–60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to discuss your health, your baby’s well-being, your birth preferences, and any emotional or practical support you need. Extra visits can always be added if something comes up or you simply need more time and reassurance.
Around 36–37 weeks, we will schedule a home visit with your birth team, so everyone can get familiar with your space, review the birth plan, and make sure you feel calm, prepared, and ready to welcome your baby at home.

Labor & Birth
When your labor begins, Birthstone Midwifery is with you every step of the way. We’ll stay in close contact by phone or text as things progress, and together we’ll decide when it’s the right time for me to come to your home to check on you and your baby.
You are always in charge of how you labor. Whether you prefer to be in the tub, on your bed, walking, swaying, or tucked into a quiet corner, I work around your rhythms and your comfort, not the other way around.
As you move closer to birthing your baby, a trusted birth assistant (who is also a licensed midwife) will join us to help monitor you and your baby and to support the flow of your home birth.
After your baby is born, I provide immediate postpartum care right in your home, making sure both you and your baby are stable, well, and gently settled in. Birthstone Midwifery remains on call for you throughout the first six weeks postpartum, so you have ongoing support as you heal, adjust, and get to know your new little one.
-
Emergency Care Plan
Even with the best preparation and support, birth has its own wisdom, and sometimes the safest place to welcome your baby ends up being the hospital instead of home. For most low-risk families planning a home birth, this is rare—but it can happen, and if it does, you are never abandoned or “left on your own.”
If a medical situation arises and a hospital transfer becomes the safer option during early labor or active labor, I will go with you and continue to support you as your home birth midwife in a doula and advocate role (as long as I am not already called to another birth). I stay with you throughout your labor in the hospital, helping you understand your options, communicate with your care team, and stay as grounded and supported as possible.
Your postpartum care with Birthstone Midwifery remains the same, even after a transfer. You will still receive in-home postpartum visits, breastfeeding support, and newborn care guidance, so that you and your baby continue to experience the continuity, compassion, and holistic midwifery care you planned from the very beginning.

Postpartum Care
In those tender early weeks, leaving the house for multiple appointments can feel overwhelming. My goal at Birthstone Midwifery is to bring as much of your postpartum care as possible to you, so you can heal, rest, and bond with your baby at home while still receiving thorough, professional support.
Your postpartum care plan includes:
2–3 home visits in the first week after birth to check on your physical recovery, your baby’s well-being, feeding, and emotional support.
A home visit at 2 weeks postpartum to continue monitoring healing, newborn feeding, sleep, and family adjustment.
A home visit at 4 weeks postpartum to support your ongoing recovery and answer any questions that have come up as you settle into life with your baby.
A 6-week postpartum visit in the office, where we complete your final routine postpartum check, discuss long-term wellness, and wrap up your official care.
Because six weeks is still very early in the postpartum journey, you will also have access to additional, as-needed in-office postpartum visits during the first year. So when questions, challenges, or new needs arise, Birthstone Midwifery remains a steady source of support for you and your baby.
