Can a Midwife Help Me Virtually?
What Virtual Midwifery Consulting Covers

By Tayna Chessman, LM, CPM  ·  Available Nationwide via Zoom

Yes — and more than most people realize. Virtual midwifery consulting is one of the most accessible and underutilized tools available to pregnant and postpartum families today.

At Birthstone Midwifery, all virtual consulting sessions are held via Zoom with me, Tayna Chessman, LM, CPM (#784), a California Licensed Midwife with deep experience in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.

Who Is Virtual Midwifery Consulting For?

  • Families planning a hospital birth who want more education than their OB has time to provide
  • Families considering home birth who want to learn more before committing
  • Pregnant people with specific questions about test results, symptoms, or procedures
  • New parents navigating breastfeeding struggles, newborn concerns, or recovery questions
  • Families who do not live near a home birth midwife but want midwifery-level support
  • Anyone who has left an OB appointment feeling rushed, dismissed, or more confused than before

"Think of it as having a midwife in your corner — someone you can ask anything, who gives honest, evidence-based answers without rushing you."

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be planning a home birth to use virtual consulting?
Absolutely not. Most of my virtual consulting clients are planning hospital births and simply want more education and support than their current provider has time to offer.
Can I use virtual consulting if I already have an OB?
Yes. Virtual midwifery consulting is complementary to your existing care. I am not replacing your OB — I am giving you the education to engage more confidently with your OB and make truly informed decisions.
Is virtual consulting available outside of California?
Virtual midwifery education and consulting sessions are available to families regardless of location. For clinical care and home birth attendance, I serve Temecula, Murrieta, and Riverside County, California.
