What to Expect From a Home Birth
Midwife in Temecula, CA
If you are pregnant and living in Temecula, Murrieta, or the surrounding Riverside County area, you may be wondering whether home birth is right for you — and what working with a home birth midwife actually looks like from start to finish.
As a California Licensed Midwife who lives and practices in this community, I want to walk you through exactly what you can expect when you choose Birthstone Midwifery for your care.
Your Journey With Birthstone Midwifery
The Free Consultation
Every relationship begins with a complimentary Midwifery Chat — a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where we get to know each other, talk through your pregnancy, and answer all of your questions about home birth and midwifery care.
Prenatal Care in Your Home
Most prenatal visits are held in your home in Temecula or Murrieta. No waiting rooms, no rushing. Visits last 45 minutes to an hour and cover everything from labs and growth monitoring to birth planning and nutrition.
Preparing for Your Birth
As your due date approaches we cover your birth supply list, setting up your birth space, your birth plan, what to do when labor begins, and full transparency about transfer protocols.
Labor and Birth
When labor begins, you call me. I arrive with a trained birth attendant and all clinical emergency equipment. I monitor you and baby continuously, support your comfort, and keep everything calm and unhurried.
The Golden Hour
After birth I place your baby directly on your chest and protect uninterrupted skin-to-skin time. Newborn assessments and weighing happen after the golden hour — not before.
Postpartum Visits at Home
I stay with you for minimum four hours after birth, then return for postpartum visits at 24–48 hours, 3–5 days, 1–2 weeks, and 4–6 weeks. All in your home. All included in your care.
"One of the things families most often comment on after a home birth is how calm and unhurried the whole experience felt. Your home stays your home."
